Water Industry

How It Works

Many bottled water companies today would like you to believe that there are some sort of health benefit in drinking bottled water rather then out of your tap. Even though many brands were forced to put “water taken from municipal sources” on their label. Municipal Sources means public water, which where your tap water comes from.

Everyday Americas largest bottle water brands, Nestle, Coca Cola, and Pepsi, pump millions of gallons of free water from the earth. Then they bottle it, ship it, and sell it back to consumers for 10,000 times the cost of tap water. This whole process only costs them 11cents per gallon.

This water is free for them because it is considered ground water. Ground water is under a certain set of laws stating that the person with the biggest pump can take the most water. Many people who live in the towns that the water is being pumped out of are fighting everyday to change these laws. “There is enough water for human need, but not for humans greed” –Gandhi
